Avvai Home & Orphanage was established in 1930 by late Dr. Muthulakshmi Reddy to shelter, protect and educate the orphan girls, deserted women - irrespective of caste, creed or social status. Her sole objective was to provide empowerment and economic independence to poor girls and women and ultimately to be trained as teachers, doctors, nurses who could lead a normal life with dignity and self-respect.
